“Of course, the primary reason for participating in Les Audacieuses is to offer my support to children. It's inconceivable to know that children are suffering.”

The Talented and Caring Andréanne Gauthier

Loyal and intuitive, Andréanne Gauthier is a photographer renowned for her unique, luminous style. Native of Chicoutimi, she has made her mark as a portrait photographer working with some of the  greatest artists from here and abroad. Co-owner of Le Liverman studio in Montreal, Andréanne was the official photographer of TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) in 2018, signed the 30 portraits in the book Créatrices and was also part of the McCord Museum exhibition 'Portraits et mode' in 2024. The woman who has captured the benevolent beauty of 40 previous Audacieuses says yes to a double role this year: in addition to being the official photographer of Les Audacieuses, Andréanne agrees to shave her hair in support of children with cancer.

Having been touched by the cause for years, Andréanne takes her commitment to the cause to another level. “Of course, the primary reason for participating in Les Audacieuses is to offer my support to children. It's inconceivable to know that children are suffering.”

A woman's hair is a representation of her femininity in our society. Letting it go requires a great deal of personal work. For this big-hearted Audacieuse, the process is already well underway. “I thought the process would start on the eve of shaving, but in fact I've been thinking about it every day since I said yes. It's positively shaken me up because the project is completely aligned with my values.”

“If I manage to find myself beautiful without hair, to feel strong like this, what a learning experience! I can't wait to feel what it will do to me, to say to myself: 'I'm beautiful, I'm enough, with or without hair. “It's not just a superficial question, it's real inner work.”

A Careerist With a Passion for Her Family

Her track record is impressive, but what defines Andréanne is the human being behind the camera. “For me, family is my absolute priority. As much as I'm a careerist, everything else can take a back seat as long as my family is doing well.”

While she used to put a lot of her energy into her career and personal achievement, now, in her thirties, she gets more positive out of seeing the people around her happy. “I would say that a great deal of benevolence has arrived inside me with my thirties. Maybe since I've had children, in fact. Before, I was more focused on my career and personal achievement. But now, I make more room in my head for others. I want people to feel good around me, both in my work and in my personal life.”

When this loyal woman commits herself to something or someone, she puts her whole heart into it. “I don't do anything by halves. If I commit myself, I do it wholeheartedly. Otherwise I don't do it at all.”

Following Her Intuition

Before she found herself in the photo studios, Andréanne was hanging out in the dance studios. One day, she received the strong call of photography. “Before photography, I was immersed in the world of dance. I've always been drawn to movement and the aesthetics of the body. One day, as I was heading towards my sport-studies in dance in Secondary 5, without thinking too much about it, I signed up for photography and fell in love. It was pure instinct, an impulse.”

After 40 portraits of Audacieuses, one thing is certain: in front of her lens, you feel confident. Andréanne gives her all: reassuring energy, gentleness, compassion, enthusiasm and emotion. She follows her intuition and delivers the beautiful, the true and the sincere. “I've often doubted, but my instinct and passion have always taken over. I've often put myself in uncomfortable situations on purpose, to force myself to surpass myself. It's my way of challenging myself.”

Andréanne's choices are sometimes off the beaten track. “Photography didn't run in my family. I feel I've shown boldness and courage in my career. I dared to take a different path. It's not necessarily not being afraid of other people's gaze, but rather assuming that I have more unusual tastes. I'm in my 'no bullshit era !”

A Daring Career That Inspires

Although her portfolio is impressive, she has overcome many challenges to develop her network. Her perseverance and drive are part of the equation for her success. “I've worked hard to get where I am today. I've surrounded myself with the right people. My intelligence isn't Cartesian; I'm very intuitive. When I love something, I follow my heart and go for it 100%.’’ As luminous as her portraits, Andréanne captures the intensity of a person through her openness and great generosity. She gives as much as she receives. “People who really work on themselves are the ones who inspire me the most. They have light and great strength. They push me to be better. You see the strength of a human being through the experiences they've had. Their authenticity influences me enormously.’’

Her journey is imperfectly beautiful. By choosing a path not often taken, she shows that a range of possibilities is available to those who would like to venture down it themselves. “To be successful in photography and have a family at the same time, I think that's a certain kind of influence. At least, that's what I feel from the conversations I've had with other self-employed women. It's possible to follow a different path, even if it's imperfect.”

Andréanne Gauthier is a touching woman, an exceptional professional and a wonderful mother who has all the makings of an Audacieuse. A gentle, humble pride emanates from her.
